Why Choose Nutwood Therapies?
What separates us from the rest?

If you want a practice where you see the same therapist, who gives you hands on treatment then we are for you. We won’t just give you a sheet of exercises to complete and send you away for weeks unless that’s what you want. Your appointment will start with a thorough assessment taking all the history and understanding the journey you’ve been on up to this point. We can look through any investigations and consultations you’ve had before so please bring anything relevant with you. We will explain in simple understandable language what’s gone on before if you feel you aren’t quite clear on what it all means.

A full assessment will be next where we can rule out other more serious causes of the problem which we often find is people’s greatest worry. All our practitioners are medically trained to spot things that masquerade as muscular complaints.

Once we have done the assessment we will talk through our diagnosis in as much or as little detail as you require. Treatment will also always be done on the same day and we will usually give you some things to do to help yourself at home in between appointments. Follow up appointments can be arranged to suit your diary and preference.

Why choose Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the main treatment and assessment recognised and deployed by the NHS. It has a scientific basis with treatments and assessments based on research and clinical reasoning.

Physiotherapists use their skills to diagnose, treat, rehabilitate and maintain recovery. Most injuries, once treated should not require maintenance top up treatments unless you choose to continue

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapists aim to restore function after injury or illness. They encourage independent living and function, recommending aids or adaptations when necessary to help to achieve this.

What is Hand Therapy?

Hand therapy is a specialist subsection of both occupational and physiotherapy.  Our hand therapists work as generic practitioners meaning that they both have skills such as wound care, splinting and joint mobilisations so you only require one clinician.

It is important after hand operations or injury that you see a specialist as they will know the limitations of your complaint and be able to safely yet effectively rehabilitate you back to full function.
